Michael Bowman

Born 1943.

Michael Bowman lives on the banks of the picturesque River Frome, near Dorchester. He paints in a broad impressionist style with a gentle touch that alluringly captures the light and contrasting patterns of colour and tone within his subject matter.

From the Norfolk Broads to his native Dorset coastline, to the estuaries of Devon and the coves of Cornwall, each painting is clearly recognisable as his.

Michael also instills a definite sense of moment and place into his work. One can feel the warmth of the Devon sun or the gentle stillness of a breezeless day on the river.

Frequent visits to Italy and France have also revealed his adept talent for capturing architectural form and the subtleties of light and colour observed on buildings and water.
