Richard Stanley

>> VIEW EXHIBITION
South by South West, 5-19 June

Richard Stanley was born in Nottingham in 1983, though from the age of seven he grew up in a remote part of North Devon, where he spent much of his time drawing and painting his surroundings.

He achieved a first class honours degree in Illustration from Falmouth College of Arts. Since graduation, Richard has worked as an illustrator and a painter.

His work embraces a range of techniques in terms of mark making and expression, producing fluid and dynamic paintings. "I try to apply paint in a manner that captures the landscape and always feel excited about those unexpected, what I call 'happy mistakes', when something doesn't go to plan. You sometimes discover a new way of working because of it.

"Innovation is also good inspiration, it drives me to find new and different ways of producing my artwork".
