Own Art

Sarah Poland

Sarah Poland was born in Scotland and studied at Edinburgh College of Art before moving to Cornwall in 2001.

"Sarah, whose work has a strong emphasis on the physicality of oil paint, creates pictures that are initially abstracted from the artist's memory of a place or experience, contextualised by an innate response to the ancient landscape of West Penwith, and re-articulated by free-flowing, spontaneous and improvised marks into paintings which essentially mythologise the notions behind their creation. It is the various tensions created between colour, form, composition and texture that inform the completed painting." - Richard Blackborow 2006
