Maria Rose was born in Croydon, London in 1985 and has subsequently lived in the West Country for most of her life. She obtained a degree in Fine Art from the University of Plymouth (in Exeter) in 2007.
Maria mostly paints outdoors and seeks impressionistic portrayal of light and colour. She also enjoys the occasional still life in the studio when the weather is against her.
Maria’s dedication towards accurately portraying her subject, and her sensitive treatment of light, situation and place, is rooted in the great British tradition of figurative painting.
Maria has exhibited with the New English Art Club and the Royal Institute of Oil Painters.
