Three distinctive artists in harmony with nature and one another’s work practice. Two painters, Vanessa Cooper and Marilyn Browning, explore notions of domesticity in oil.
Vanessa works in bold colour with a humorous eye. Surreal, primitive scenes of flowers and fauna in a glowing, saturated palette are joyous.
Marilyn is more reflective, quieter, still. Her take on home life is minimal and dreamlike. Together we have a riot of colour beside a zen-like sense of everything being in the right place.
Jacqueline Leighton Boyce’s ceramics provide a mid-point. Her vases and bowls are deliberately wild and free, beautifully thrown and painted with nature in the foreground and muted tones in the background. An organic exterior to sit alongside the interiors of Vanessa and Marilyn. A combination of gentleness, vitality and strength. Three talents in harmony.
